Mandatory Practice and Building a Legacy
Take note that on July 27th mandatory practice begins and we will be transitioning to afternoon practices. What this means is that in order to compete you're required to be at practice. For example, if you're unable to make practice the week of Premier XC Invite you will be unable to race.
This is for a couple reasons.
The mission statement we've pursued for our team has been to be a competitive team committed to excellence and to create lifelong memories and positive relationships.
Over the last 7 years we have been building a program with this vision. Over the last 3 years we have brought home 2 region titles. The previous region titles Jordan has won were back in 2006 (girls) and 2004 (boys). Right now we are seeing something special with the amount of involvement with new 8th and 9th graders attending summer practice! We firmly believe that if we commit ourselves and raise the bar of our program we will be able to compete with the best in the state and chase a state title. Jordan High is a state championship team in cross country. Boys in 2004 and girls in 2006. It is our job as your coaches to help you become the best athlete you can be and part of this is attending practice.
We also need to see you running, doing workouts so that we feel confident that you're physically able and ready to compete.
This is a week to week basis and will reset each week i.e. missing a practice week 1 will not cause you to miss a meet on week 2.
There may come up times you're unable to attend practice.
These bullet points are from our team disclosure.
No athlete is excused from practice unless he/she has notified a coach and received permission to miss. I recognize that any unexcused absences will count against my attendance to be able to compete. Frequent absences may lead to dismissal from team. This is a high school competitive running team.
If I am injured, sick or unable to work out, I will communicate to coaches before practice to formulate a plan. If I am able, I will attend practice, meetings and other competitions and assist when possible.
If I am working a job, I will communicate with my boss that I am unable to work until after 5pm. Please, do not get scheduled during practice.
I will when possible schedule other appointments, meetings, etc after 5 as well. E.g. Dr./dentist appointments.
If you have any specific questions please reach out. We are here to help and support you to be the best student athlete you can be!
